The clear advantages of LED technology have led to an increasing number of elevator cars in new installations and modernization projects being equipped with LED spotlights, and more recently, with LED panels. Initially, standard light sources from hardware stores and wholesalers were primarily used, but these were quickly replaced by new developments tailored to the specific requirements of elevator construction, such as emergency lighting functions, vandal-proof features, etc. The widespread use of LED technology in elevator construction has naturally also given rise to many opportunities for improvement and constructive criticism of existing LED systems for elevator construction, which can be summarized (negatively formulated) as follows:

• Reduced lifespan of spots due to thermal overload
• Despite the “warm” light colours, the overall impression of the LED lighting is perceived by many people as unpleasant due to uneven or point-shaped light distribution in the cabin
• Very high cabling and assembly costs, especially when the spots are used as emergency lighting
• Difficult or sometimes impossible installation situation due to the installation depths

Henning GmbH from Schwelm has taken this potential for improvement as an opportunity to develop several new product lines for cabin lighting with LEDs, which can offer significant advantages, especially in the areas mentioned above.
